Original version from Barbara Chau, Livermore, CA. 443-4522 SOY BEEF 1 lb. flank stnk, sliced about 1/8" thick, or slightly thicker 1/8 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cornstarch 1 tsp light soy sauce 3 tbsp ocoking oil (divided) 1 tbsp water 1 thap dark soy sauce 2 tbsp + 1/8 tsp sugar 1 Dissolve baking soda in the light aoy asuce. Add cornstarch, 1 tbsp cooking oil, 1/8 tsp sugar, and water. 2. Marinate beef in the above sauce for at least 4 hours ( or overnight ) 3. Heat 2 tbsp oil, pan fry beef until it changes color. Add 2 tbsp sugar and dark soy sauce. Mix well and serve hot.
