SOFT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 2 cups brown sugar 1 cup shortening 2 eggs beaten, room temperature 2 teaspoons vanilla 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup chocolate chips 1 cup nuts Preheat oven to 375 F degrees. Cream sugar and shortening, add beaten eggs and vanilla. In separate bowl mix flour, soda and salt. Add flour mixture slowly to sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla mixture. Mix well, then slowly mix in chips and nuts. Drop by spoonful onto cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes. Cookies should just barely brown on edges. Cool on cookies sheets and store in airtight container.
