Sangria 1/2 C superfine sugar 1 lime, thinly sliced 1 orange thinly sliced 1 C cold water 1 bottle (750 ml) red wine (Spanish, rough, cheap) Stir sugar and water together over medium heat until disolved. Continue until it boils, then remove from heat. Add orange and lime to pan. Let sit at room temperature at least 4 hours. Just before serving put 1 tray ice cubes in 1 1/2 quart pitcher. Add fruit and 1/2 C syrup. Add wine and stir well. Save the rest of the syrup for the next bottle of wine. Option: add marachino cherries and pineapple and reduce other fruit. from Jerry Pendelton
