Oatmeal Crisps 1 C shortening 1 C brown sugar 1 C white sugar 2 eggs 1 t vanilla 1 1/2 C flour 1 t salt 1 t soda 3 Coatmeal nuts (optional) Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together flour, salt, and soda; add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats and nuts. Let stand a few minutes. Form dough into rolls about 1 1/2" diameter. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill thoroughly. Unwrap. Slice 1/4" thick. Bake at 350 F about 10 minutes, until lightly browned. Makes about 5 dozen.
