Meringue Cookies

3 egg whites
1/4 tst salt
3/4 c wlnuts
1 C sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c dates

Heat oven to 300 F.
Blend egg whites, sugar, salt, and vanilla in top of double boiler.
Place over boiling water, beat with rotary beater until mixture stands in still peaks,
scrapping bottom and sides of pan occasionally.   
Immediately stir in nuts and dates.
Drop heaping Teaspoonfuls of dough on 2 lightly greased cookie sheets.
One at a time
Baked 12 - 15 min.Remove immediately
