Bill Holden’s Marinated Hawaiian Steak (from Dinah) The reason I call this Hawaiian is that the first time we tasted it the Holdens were in Hawaii with their kids and George and I were over there with ours. The children were quite small, The steaks weren’t. Bill cooked them himself. I don’t know what other culinary talents he has, but he doesn’t need too many more with a specialty like this going for him. 6 1 1/2 inch sirloin steaks Hawaiian Sauce 1 cup Japanese shoyu sauce or soya sauce 2 drops sugar substitute 1 heaping teaspoon fresh ginger root, grated 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 tablespoon cooking oil 1 tablespoon sesame seed 1 tablespoon sherry, bourbon, or brandy Marinate steaks with sauce about 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking over charcoal or under broiler. Serves 6. 61
