Chocolate Chip-Raisin Cookies 2 c. ralslns 2 c. water 1 c. lard or shortening 2 c. sugar 3 eggs, beaten 1 t. vani1la extract 4 c. all-purpose flour 1 t. baking powder 1 t. baking soda 1 t. salt 1/2 t. nutmeg 1 t. cinnamon 1/4 t. allspice 12-oz. pkg. chocolate chips Simmer raisins in water for 5 minutes; do not drain. Set aside to cool. Blend together lard or shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla; add raisins and water. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices; slowly mix into shortening mixture. Add chocolate chips; drop by tablespoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 F degrees until golden, about 10 minutes. Makes 2-1/2 to 3 dozen.
